ELUSIVE PEACE
Look at Mankind's grand achievements,
As this epoch draws its veil.
Radio, aircraft, motor transport;
Yet the violent hordes prevail.
Television brings us pictures;
Satellites beam round the Earth;
Spacecraft probe our Solar System;
Science brought the Bomb to birth.
"World Peace", cry negotiators;
UN power Saddam erodes;
Wye Agreements carve up Israel;
Hamas terror still explodes.
Will the wistful dream elude us?
Is the hope of Peace forlorn?
Look at Christmas with its Message:
Christ the Prince of Peace was born!
There will be no Peace without Him;
Peace with God, or Peace with Man.
On the cruel Cross He suffered,
To begin the Father's Plan.
But the perfect Plan continues
Christ in Glory will Return;
Wisely ruling all our nations
Bringing Peace for which we yearn.
We can have His Peace this Christmas;
Love and Joy that's seldom known;
Like the Wise Men, do Him homage;
Let Him rule upon Life's Throne.
