*The use of a portable receiver for such qualitative checks saves both time and energy. Several subsequent checks with a portable radio in tombs at the Valley of the Kings indicated that losses through the walls were very high at broadcast frequencies and HF. This discouraged our hopes that missing tombs in the Valley of the Kings could be discovered by radio-wave sounding methods.
