Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
“You are my Son,
today I have begotten you”?
Or again,
“I will be to him a father,
and he shall be to me a son”?
6 And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says,
“Let all God's angels worship him.”
7 Of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels winds,
and his ministers a flame of fire.”
8 But of the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”
10 And,
“You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning,
and the heavens are the work of your hands;
they will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment,
\like a robe you will roll them up,
like a garment they will be changed.
But you are the same,
and your years will have no end.”
13 And to which of the angels has he ever said,
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve
for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
Creation: The Creation of the Universe was the work of three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Three Persons--one God. God the Father can be thought of as the Architect, Designer and Planner. The Son of God then executed the plans of the Father. Finally, God the Spirit energized the Universe and empowered life.
There was a "time" when our present universe did not exist: But God in Three Persons was there, in Three Persons.
Incarnation: When the Son of God became a man to resolve the problem of evil.
"But when the fullness of the time had come,
God sent forth His Son, born of a woman,
born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law,
that we might receive the adoption as sons." (Galatians 4:4-5)
Later in time, Jesus prayed in John 17, remembering the ages of time, before dearth's recorded history, back to Eternity Past, long before He was incarnated through Mary. That is, He was fully aware of His personal history before His incarnation.
During His time on earth, Jesus never acted on His own deity, always asking the Father to work through Him. Thus He could say,
"Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." (John 15:10-14)
"Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:24-26)
The Son of God become man, is presented to us--that momentous event--by the Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form (morphe)of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance (anthropas) as a man He humbled Himself and becameobedient to thepointof death, even the death of the cross.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11)
Did Jesus also remember His ~33 years as a man among us after His resurrection? Surely! When He returns, Jesus will resume His management of the nations openly, no longer behind the scenes.
Consider the situation where no universe has yet been created, but a Three-Personal living God exists (eternally). The three Persons, we can infer, are equal, but not identical. Since all "personal relationships" we know about involvegiving and taking, initiating and responding, leading and following, it is easy to imagine that the Persons of the godhead are likely to be perpetually involved in some kind of totally fulfilling relationships among one another. They evidently do not ever become bored with one another. Nor does this three-personal God need a creation. This kind of God could exist with an inner dynamism sand completeness which we can scarcely begin to even imagine. When we add into this picture the additional information--which He has also revealed to us--namely "God is Love," then it is not difficult to imagine that each Person of the godhead lives not then it is not difficult to imagine that each Person of the godhead lives not for Himself but for the other Persons within the godhead. Thus God can apparently not act selfishly as we do -- His love is always "self-giving." This subject for further study is known as "The Procession of the Godhead."
For this three-Personal God to decide to create a universe with men and angels in it now takes on a whole new dimension. What if this God has chosen to allow men and angels to know Him and to relate to Him personally? Suppose we are invited somehow to "share in His love?" If the real God has chosen to make men very much like himself in terms of free-will, creativity, imagination, diversity--and the capability of loving and being loved--then He has given us created beings the highest possible honor.
Pay particular attention to the Second Person in the Godhead. For instance He is a team player in the creation of the entire universe. Think of God the Father as the Architect, the Designer. God the Son is the Master Builder who constructs the universe in accordance to the Design. Finally, God the Holy Spirit imparts life, energizes the entire created universe, and upholds it.
The body of everyone one of us is described in the Bible as a temple. In the sanctuary of our hearts either the true God reigns or all manner of false gods control us! Since there are three Persons in the godhead, all three take up residence in us:
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:3)
God the Father is in you: "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all." (Ephesians 4:4-6).
Jesus Christ is in you:Jesus said... ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him." (John 14:6,7)
God the Holy Spirit is in you:"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption." (Ephesians 4:30)
For two thousand years Jesus has been seated at the right hand of God.
Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:15-22)
For two thousand years, Jesus has served as our great high priest.
Now the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain. But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
The present world population is 8000 million persons. If 10% know Jesus, out great high priest has been very busy. He will have accumulated and assimilated the life experience, a "career" of 2000 years of dealing with each and every member of His Body, the church. He will be fully informed about each and every outsider who lack a personal relationship with Him. At the end of each and every followers of His, it is Jesus who takes charge of the Judgment Seat of Christ, for every believer. At the end of current history, the Judgment of the Great White Throne, it is Jesus who is Judge. He will have record books on each defendant.
Is Jesus qualified to help us through our lives?
Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.
“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
Then he said to me, “See that you do not do For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”
And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”
Jesus Testifies to the Churches
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Blessed those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
A Warning
For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:6-21)
